When Will They Ever Learn?

Kingston Trio
"Where Have All the Flowers Gone?"
Listen | Buy

NOTES: I'm seeing the Kingston Trio today! With me daddy! When I was a kid, every time my dad and I would drive somewhere he'd let me pick out which 8-track (heh) to listen to, and I'd choose either the Statler Brothers, or the Kingston Trio. I know the words to all of the Trio's big hits, and I'll probably be the youngest person at the concert, but I DON'T CARE, because they're just that wonderful. Plus, seeing them perform is one of the things on The List, so that's one more thing I've accomplished.

Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing
Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago
Where have all the flowers gone
Young girls pick them, every one
When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the young girls gone, long time passing
Where have all the young girls gone, long time ago
Where have all the young girls gone
Gone to young men, every one
When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the young men gone, long time passing
Where have all the young men gone, long time ago
Where have all the young men gone
Gone for soldiers, every one
When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the soldiers gone, long time passing
Where have all the soldiers gone, a long, long time ago
Where have all the soldiers gone
Gone to graveyards, every one
When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the graveyards gone, long time passing
Where have all the graveyards gone, long time ago
Where have all the graveyards gone
Gone to flowers, every one
When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?

I hope they sang Tom Dooley! I am so glad you are able to go to the concert with your daddy. I had been hoping mine would be well enough to go with me. Give him an extra hug from me! :)

Melissa, they did! They played it at the end of the opening set.

I had a great time at the concert, but for some reason it didn't occur to me beforehand that I wasn't going to be seeing the original Kingston Trio. If I had thought about it I would have realized that, since the original members would be pushing 80 by this point.

The "new" members are very good, it just threw me off a bit not to hear the right voices.
