That's Why They Call Me Mister Fahrenheit

Queen
"Don't Stop Me Now"
Listen | Buy

NOTES: Retro day continues. I used to listen to this album - Live Killers - all the the time when I was about 10 years old. I'm not sure why. But I used to dance around my bedroom to this song the most. Of course, I had no idea what the lyrics were - I'm pretty sure I wasn't singing "I'm a sex machine ready to reload" when I was 10. Or was I???

I'm gonna have myself a real good time
I feel alive
And the world, turning inside out
Floating around in ecstasy
So don't stop me
'Cause I'm having a good time
Having a good time

I'm a shooting star leaping through the sky
Like a tiger defying the laws of gravity
I'm a racing car passing by like Lady Godiva
I'm gonna go, go, go
There's no stopping me

Burning through the skies
Two hundred degrees
That's why they call me Mister Fahrenheit
Traveling at the speed of light
I wanna make a supersonic man out of you

Don't stop me now
I'm having such a good time
I'm having a ball
Don't stop me now
If you wanna have a good time
Just give me a call
Don't stop me now
Don't stop me now
'Cause I'm having a good time
Don't stop at all

I'm a rocket ship on my way to Mars
On a collision course
I am a satellite, I'm out of control
I'm a sex machine ready to reload
Like an atom bomb about to
Oh oh oh oh oh explode

Burning through the skies
Two hundred degrees
That's why they call me Mister Fahrenheit
I'm traveling at the speed of light
I wanna make a supersonic woman of you

Burning through the skies
Two hundred degrees
That's why they call me Mister Fahrenheit
I'm traveling at the speed of light
I wanna make a supersonic man out of you

Don't stop me now
I'm having such a good time
I'm having a ball
Don't stop me now
If you wanna have a good time
Just give me a call
Don't stop me now
Don't stop me now
'Cause I'm having a good time
Don't stop at all

Hey Julie -

I've had the day off (personal stuff, health stuff, all that crap), but I wanted to tell you that I really appreciated the Queen reference.

When I was like 13 or 14, I spent the 4th of July at my uncles. We were big on family get-togethers. My cousin (same age) was enraptured by Queen; I had never heard of them (vintage rock n roll and a budding Kiss fascination - thank Jaysus I finally got some jazz and classical influences).

She made me sit down and listen to "A Night at the Opera" without moving; by the last cut (and remember, this was in the old vinyl days), I would've gone out and supported her against her father in her right to have a pony, they were so f*cking good.

So, it was nice to see you play a less-celebrated cut, one I've never heard before.

I love this song; it is on my Queen Greatest Hits cd, purchased at Target, currently in the sedan.
