I'm going to start this story, and you all can continue it through comments. You don't have to follow my style; in fact, this will be more fun if you don't. Just take a thread from the story and run with it.

Some things you don't ask for. Some things, you just get.
It was like that for Miranda. She never wanted for anything, because she got everything she wanted. And some things she didn't want, too, like the yelping puppy at her feet.
Because this was no ordinary puppy. This puppy was a harbinger of doom. It was...
THE PUPPY OF THE APOCALYPSE!
The puppy said, "Hi, my name is Burton and I am impossibly cute. You will be unable to resist me. You will take me home and feed me IAMS Puppy Chow. You will cuddle me and give me a cute girl puppy with which to have my way with. I speak in complicated sentences so pay close attention. Now. Take me for a walk in the park. Make sure to pass by many fire hydrants."
And even though I am the POTA (Puppy Of The Apocalypse), I am impossibly cute, and cute puppies trailed by girls tend to attract hot looking men at the park. I'm willing to help you out, even though you should fear me. Did you see that? Did you see how I sucked you in? You're so weak.
Miranda rolled her eyes at this. What use had she for more men? Males had always flocked to her, drawn by her piercing eyes and red brown hair with carmel highlights. No, Miranda was quite content without more men in her life.
And yet she did not turn away from the puppy, for she suddenly realized that it could provide her with the one thing she had never had, had not even known she wanted until this very moment . . .
The puppy looked deep into Miranda's eyes and suddenly there was a flash of memory - a laboratory, with lots of machines and flashing lights, and several men standing around in white coats carrying needles. Closer and closer the men came and a horrific laugh echoed through the room...
Miranda saw a flash of white light before her eyes - and her head began to tingle. Miranda had no idea that what she was "remembering" was really the POTA's thoughts. She could see the puppy's memories - or were they her own memories? And, just as suddenly, Miranda wanted revenge for the atrocities that had been visited upon the poor puppy. It was no wonder the puppy was the POTA. The puppy .. had .. been ..
forced to wear uncomfortable minature human clothes, pose around a green felt table with other conscripted canines of other breeds, funny paper 'fans' taped to it's paws, smoke filling the room from Buster's cigar, and subjected to blinding flashes of lights in his innocent eyes. How humiliating! The anguish made Burton susceptable to the evil manipulations of....
Alison, the former beauty queen who had auctioned him off on ebay, but who still retained some control over him. Unfortunately for her...
... Burton doesn't like bitches. Miranda felt a sudden desire to watch a Queer Eye marathon and drink fruity alcoholic beverages while getting a manicure.
And then a sudden flash of realization came over her - she had seen Burton before. But she couldn't quite place where. Slowly, the pieces started coming together...
....like pieces of a patchwork quilt. Patch. Patch. There was something oddly familiar about that word. But in Miranda's fruity alcoholic haze, memories remained sadly out of reach. She fell asleep in her chair silently whispering, "Patch. Patch. Patch." Suddenly, her near empty glass fell out of her hand. Miranda awoke with a start. "Burton!" She yelled. "Patch!" She sobbed. She was filled with an overwhelming rage. "Arrrrrrrrrghhh!" She screamed, her right eye closing. An evil force overcame Miranda and then,
