And even though I am the POTA (Puppy Of The Apocalypse), I am impossibly cute, and cute puppies trailed by girls tend to attract hot looking men at the park. I'm willing to help you out, even though you should fear me. Did you see that? Did you see how I sucked you in? You're so weak.

Miranda rolled her eyes at this. What use had she for more men? Males had always flocked to her, drawn by her piercing eyes and red brown hair with carmel highlights. No, Miranda was quite content without more men in her life.

And yet she did not turn away from the puppy, for she suddenly realized that it could provide her with the one thing she had never had, had not even known she wanted until this very moment . . .

The puppy looked deep into Miranda's eyes and suddenly there was a flash of memory - a laboratory, with lots of machines and flashing lights, and several men standing around in white coats carrying needles. Closer and closer the men came and a horrific laugh echoed through the room...

Miranda saw a flash of white light before her eyes - and her head began to tingle. Miranda had no idea that what she was "remembering" was really the POTA's thoughts. She could see the puppy's memories - or were they her own memories? And, just as suddenly, Miranda wanted revenge for the atrocities that had been visited upon the poor puppy. It was no wonder the puppy was the POTA. The puppy .. had .. been ..

forced to wear uncomfortable minature human clothes, pose around a green felt table with other conscripted canines of other breeds, funny paper 'fans' taped to it's paws, smoke filling the room from Buster's cigar, and subjected to blinding flashes of lights in his innocent eyes.
