Fourth Time's the Charm

Well, damn. Hurricane Jeanne is now going to come right over me. In mere hours. And it won't be a tropical storm, as they were predicting last night. It will be a full-on hurricane. My mom called at 6 a.m. to wake me up, so I could prepare. I've got the water jugs filled, the dishwasher is running, and I'm about to go take a shower. Must take advantage of electricity while I have it.

The witching hour is supposedly around 10 a.m. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Never fear - my car is now safe(r). There was an open space on the far side of the lot, away from any major trees and the carports. So it's no longer in danger of anything falling on it.

Well, except a building. But let's not go there.

And now - wind! Gusts of 45 mph, sustained winds of 35 mph. But we aren't even into the yellow bands on the radar, yet.

I just saw a pigeon blown sideways as it tried to fly off over the lake.

The ducks were just up under the tree begging for food, but I told them to get down to the water so they'd be safe. And they actually listened to me.
