Slow Change May Pull Us Apart

Simple Minds
"Don't You (Forget About Me)"
Listen | Buy

NOTES: God, I loved the movie The Breakfast Club. My friends and I all identified with the Ally Sheedy character, PRE-makeover. That part of the ending was so disappointing in a way; only when she changes herself does she get the guy. Whatever, John Hughes! Anyway, this song is appropriate considering I'll be gone for the next week traipsing through the Southwest. I won't be able to update this site, and the Audiograbber thing no longer works, so ... see you in 10 days or so. Ignore the comment spammers whenever they inevitably come. Oh, and anyone who wants a postcard has until 8 p.m. ET to send their address to me.

Won't you come see about me?
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving me everything inside and out and
Love's strange so real in the dark
Think of the tender things
That we were working on
Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby

Don't you forget about me
Don't don't don't don't
Don't you forget about me

Will you stand above me?
Look my way, will you never love me?
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down

Will you recognise me?
Call my name or walk on by
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down, down

Don't you try and pretend
It's my feeling we'll win in the end
I won't harm you or touch your defenses
Vanity, insecurity

Don't you forget about me
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Going to take you apart
I'll put us back together at heart, baby

Don't you forget about me
Don't don't don't don't
Don't you forget about me

As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
When you walk away

Or will you walk away?
Will you walk on by?
Come on - call my name
Will you call my name?

Oooooh, I LUUUUURVE this song. One of my favorites.

Once, when Breakfast Club came out on cable, I played the audio through the stereo system and recorded most of the songs on cassette (remember those!?) so I could listen to them at my leisure.

Slow change may pull us apart, but love will tear us apart.

Thanks for pointing out that the Ally Sheedy makeover now she gets the dude sucked for you, too.

Happy family kinda stuff, eh?

Yeah. I liked the pre-makeover girl better, by far.
